I’m Haashim, Asian Star’s youngest presenter aged 21 & Drive Time Show Host & Club DJ. Radio has always been something of which has caught my attention. Growing up within the industry it simply was inevitable, I enjoy being behind the mic and being able to broadcast to the masses. As I watched my Father from a young age I said to him and myself this is what I want to do but it wasn’t as easy as this. going through vigourous training which still commences today, I got myself my own show at aged 13 Saturday mornings on Asian Star giving the youth something to listen to. As the years went on I continued the show and covered other shows untill I was given the Saturday Afternoon show which grew popular with the vast selection of music. This then moved to another show I used to broadcast which was Friday Nights “Mix Nation”. The finally at the end of 2013 I was given the privelledge to become the Drive Time presenter on Asian Star. The journey was very long and a lot of hardwork but well worth it.
My most memorable moment in the industry is being able to help organise, host & DJ at the Slough Mela Festivals yearly. Includes all events I have been present at & the artists ad influential people that I have met.
So my ideal job has to be a Qualified Broadcast Journalist working within the mainstream corporations. What does the future hold? In 5 years I hope to be working for a well known Media outlet whether it is TV or Radio…who knows?
